The big girl’s school had education week this month and invited the parents in to the classrooms to see the progress they’ve made throughout the year. Our first stop was Alaina’s classroom where she showed us her writing journal, math work, poetry and artwork. 2DJ’s (Year 2, Teachers Mrs. Durrand & Mrs. Justilius Wright) themes this year have been dinosaurs and pirates.
They’ve got a lot of great photographs up in the room, but had to snap a shot of this cute one of Alaina & her BFF, Sofia.
Next stop was the computer lab where the girls showed us how they log in and some programs they work with.
Then it was on to Kyla’s room where she showed us her art projects, writing journals, math work and other special assignments. KW (Kindergarten, Mrs. Wilson) has done a lot of fun projects and they’ve learned so much this year!
Hallie even got in on some of the action…I think she’s ready for preschool next year!!
We enjoyed morning tea with the girls before saying goodbye.
This year, the school put on an art show. We didn’t really know what to expect, but this totally blew our mind…such an impressive display of the whole school’s very unique and individual artwork! It was great to walk around and check out all the different displays including Alaina & Kyla’s. Kyla painted a beautiful kite that hung from the ceiling and Alaina had 3 different pieces of art-one from her normal class and 2 from her art enrichment. Great work by all!
Kyla’s is the pink & purple one with the papers attached to the kite strings and Alaina with her clay pot.
Some of the other great pieces throughout the hall
Alaina’s other 2 pieces
Kyla got to go on her 2nd excursion-this time to the Art Gallery in Sydney!
The next 2 pictures came from Kyla’s teacher
Most Thursdays there is an assembly for the kids, and I attended this one to see Kyla receive her first silver award and as a bonus, I got to see Alaina in her school dance group show the audience how to bush dance!
At the assembly the following week, we got to watch Alaina perform in her recorder group…unfortunately she was in the back, so I only caught a couple glimpses of her.
We are still loving our local school and can’t believe the year is going by so quickly!
