We packed up our things and left Rotorua to head north toward Auckland. We stopped in Matamata at the i-site to inquire about Hobbiton. It was our first rainy, windy day and wasn’t ideal for the tour, especially with kids, but it would have been neat. We loved that they had transformed the i-site building into the Gatehouse for Hobbiton. It was a very cool place!
Pick me up, Gollum!
We had lunch and then continued on our way to Auckland. Once we arrived and settled into our hotel, we headed down to the waterfront for dinner. The kids played for a bit at the playground beforehand.
After dinner, we walked along the harbour and by the marina, taking in the beauty of the city at night.
We checked out the America’s Cup Racing Sailboat that was on display before heading back for the night for our last night as a group.
