Christmas in July?

So we are (and have been for the last week and 2 days) staying at the Stamford Grand in North Ryde.  It’s a very nice hotel and we have a one bedroom “apartment” with a living area and kitchen table, microwave and mini fridge and nice outdoor patio-which hasn’t gotten used much as it rained for the first 6 days we were here. We have used the indoor pool every other night to wear the kids out a little more as well.  We are SO very ready to not be out of here though!  It is nice and we do get a nice hot breakfast every morning, but we are going a little stir crazy and are ready to get settled into a house-should we ever find the right one for us!
These 2 pictures were not taken by me…

One interesting thing that this hotel does every July, however, is celebrates Christmas in July.  When we first arrived, there were no decorations, but we kept noticing all the Christmas music they were playing.  Then a couple days later, we noticed a Christmas tree was up.  The next day, the entire hotel was decked out for Christmas…guess they like to get more use out of their Christmas décor!  Now I know back in the States, we have Christmas in July sales, but that’s it.  It seems that since Christmas here is in the middle of summer and is hot, hot, hot, some Aussies like to go all out and celebrate Christmas in July since it is winter time (that said, it’s suppose to be 70 degrees and sunny tomorrow!) and they can make their winter feast and not be blasted by the additional heat of the oven.
