We were SO excited for our visit back home! I think it was the most prepared I’ve ever been for a vacation-bags were packed well in advance, laundry and cleaning were caught up…just counting down the days! We left on a Tuesday morning for the airport with both cars in tow in order to bring all of our luggage we’d be returning with (after food and clothes shopping as well as gifts from family). After we’d been in the car for about 20 minutes, Kyla asked, “are we still in Australia?” Oh man, this was going to be a VERY long day if that question was already being asked! We made it to the airport with plenty of time to spare….too much as it turns out we had a slight delay.
Here are the girls with most of our luggage as we wait for Daddy to get the cars parked.
Soon, it was time to board our flight to Los Angeles. The girls all did great with their carry-ons and rolling bags.
We settled in for our flight. The girls (& I) were excited to watch movies and other than the last 2 hours of this 13 hour flight, that’s exactly what we did!
Hallie did not wanted to keep watching shows (even without headphones) the entire flight and had a bit of a hard time finally falling asleep despite our efforts. At least she was quiet!
Once we landed in LA, we quickly found a place to sit down and that’s when I crashed! I was exhausted from no sleep on the previous flight and asked Brian to take the girls for a walk so I could get a little rest. I must have been out of it, because I later found some lovely video footage of me sleeping while my middle daughter loudly sang a song about a leaf on the floor and her sleeping mommy.
Then it was time for flight #2.
We were so excited and surprised to see some friends along with my parents at the airport to welcome us home. It was good to be “home.”
We then all went out for dinner and ice cream at Culvers before heading to my parents house to CRASH! We were all incredibly exhausted, but we were able to get a great night’s sleep and wake up refreshed and on Michigan time the next morning!
Day 2 started off for the girls and I at our friend, Stacey’s house. My due in 2 days friend, Rachel was also there with her kiddos. We had a great time catching up and having lunch before heading to our hair appointments!
After some fresh cuts and color (for me), we went back for fun and catching up at my parent’s house (our home base for our time in the States). My brother and his family came over as well as Brian’s Dad, Kim, and brother Matthew for outdoor fun and dinner.

Blurry shot of some of the dinner guests. It was a great night!
