Our June

June has been a busy month as we finish up term 2 at school and all of our other activities as well as preparing for our trip back to the States.  The weather hasn’t been too cold as far as winter goes, but our house here is not built for the colder weather and it often feels colder inside than out!

Here is a glimpse at some of the fun things we did this June!

Hallie playing while I was doing literacy groups in Kyla’s classroom

Alaina’s first recorder concert….unfortunately she was in the way back and we couldn’t see her.  She played for us at home later though and did a great job!

Brian posted this picture on facebook earlier this month of our lovely fruit trees….and the second picture shows the destruction of one evil cockatoo!  He had lemons and mandarins ALL OVER!!  There were probably 5 or 6 in the pool! Darn bird!

We had Kyla’s 2 best friends from school and their families over for dinner and drinks.  Here are the girls playing hair.

And since neither family had ever had s’mores, we did the best we could with our barbecue to give them a little taste!

We’d been putting off teaching Kyla how to ride her bike without training wheels as it’s not as convenient as it use to be…we have to load up all of our bikes and head to the park since our street is not safe for the kids to ride on.  She did so good!  She’s a little aggressive and rides top speed, so we still need to work on control and balance.

Got some great shots of all the girls at swim lessons.  Here is Hallie playing with Daddy…blowing bubbles, jumping in, and going under on her own!

The girls enjoying seaweed for breakfast!  It was leftover from sushi and needed to be eaten before our vacation…they LOVE it (and asked for more!)

About a week before they arrived, we found out that my Uncle David and his son and grandson were going to be in Sydney!  Even though it was just 2 days before we were leaving Sydney, we were glad it worked out to meet them in the city to walk around, enjoy a goofy street act (Uncle David got to hold and throw a sword), and grab dinner.

Kyla had to make a farm animal for her school news, so Alaina made one too.

Hallie had a fun time playing at her new preschool (we went for a visit) that she’ll start at in 2015.

June 25th marks our 1 year anniversary of living in Australia!  We cannot believe how fast the year went.  We love so many things about living here, have met so many great people and have had so many wonderful and unforgettable experiences.  Cheers!!
