Our friends invited us along with another family to spend the weekend about 3-1/2 hours away from home at friends of theirs’ farmhouse. We had a late night getting there on Friday, after stopping for dinner with everyone at the halfway point. We had to drive 30+ minutes on winding dirt roads through the mountains in the dark-no idea what was around us (wildlife, farm animals, huge cliffs off the road!). We were thankful to arrive after having kangaroo jumping in front of our cars and driving through some thick fog and dust from the dirt roads. The house was perfect for us and the next morning made the crazy drive worth it-amazing views all around! We also had beautiful weather the entire weekend and just an overall great time!
Views of kangaroo and sheep from the house
After breakfast on Saturday, we all went for a walk around the property, through the hills, over a river, and down the dirt roads.
View back at the house
We stopped at the river and the kids had a blast throwing sticks and rocks in!
Me with Jenny & Nicole (my mum friends from Kyla’s kindy class)
Chloe & Jessica
I must have said something hilarious to Nicole & Louis!
Harrison….the only boy amongst 7 girls between the 3 families!
Sploosh!!
Hallie LOVED throwing rocks in the water…and of course, taking off her shoes any chance she gets!
It’s all fun and games until you notice a bunch of huge spiders on the rocks! Time to continue on our walk!
Checking out a wombat hole
Love this shot of all the kids…too bad Hallie was not a fan of this! (Note: there were 2 dads behind them hanging on to the little ones that I photoshopped out!)
Jessica waiting for the sticks to come through the pipes on the other side
The Guise family
Kyla & Bella (missing Sophie in this one…the 3 girls that started the great friendship)
Our filthy cars! And yes, 3 families took 5 cars out here!
Lunch time!
After rest time and my enjoyable run (so cool to see kangaroo out during a run!), we had a small fire and smores!
Then it was off to dinner in the nearest town (about 25min. away) We saw tons of kangaroo hopping everywhere as the sun began to set!
We had a great dinner (despite a rough start when one of the cars on the way ended up with a flat tire!) and got the kids to bed at a decent time so the adults could enjoy some refreshments and games! Fun night!
The next morning, we packed up and enjoyed a relaxing morning before hitting the road.
We had to stop a few times to let the sheep cross the road…so many sheep!
We stopped for lunch near the Blue Mountains on the way home. What a great weekend!
