Waking up from our first night. We had a couple 2-Bedroom apartments…Hallie had her own room, but was getting over being sick and had a rough first night, so ended up in bed with us…leaving one room completely empty!
Some other views of our place in Greymouth
Then we hit the road and headed north a half hour to Punakaiki. It was a windy and beautiful drive along the coastline.
We made it to the Pancake Rocks and spent some time along the walk, admiring the unique rock structures and beautiful ocean views.
You can see the 'pancake'-layering of the limestone which is created by immense pressure on alternating hard and soft layers of marine creatures and plant sediments.
We loved watching the waves crashing into the rocks.
It was neat to see this heavily eroded limestone area where the sea bursts through several vertical blowholes during high tides.
It’s neat to see the images in the rocks.
Kyla was having talking on the 2-way radios!
