On our 2nd full day in Queenstown, we kept it a little more low key in order to recuperate from our previous day. We had a relaxing morning and then headed into town for lunch and to make plans for our afternoon. We’d heard great things about Fergburger and were NOT disappointed! (We even came back for lunch a 2nd time) We had some amazing burgers and enjoyed checking out this ski town.
We decided to check out the luge rides, so after we got our tickets, we hopped on the gondola. The view was spectacular!!
She wasn’t unhappy, but her little pouty face showed up and I couldn’t resist!
Continuing up the gondola, past the bungee jumpers
Breathtaking view from the top!
Mom enjoying a drink while taking in the view.
Heading for the chairlift up to the luge rides
I have to admit, chairlifts freak me out a bit….especially when watching your 7 year old daughter and nephew by themselves on one! They, however, loved it!
Panaoramic view from the top of the chairlift.
Getting ready for their first ride!
Our first run down started off with Kyla & I, Alaina & Brian, and Quinn wanted to try on his own. Kyla & I ended up ahead of them, and this was what came down! Apparantly Quinn hit the brakes too hard and actually flew off of his luge cart…lets just say, thank goodness for helmets! He was pretty shaken up and wanted to continue the ride with Brian and I am so incredibly proud of how brave Alaina was to go down the rest of the way by herself. That’s not typical of her, and to see that smile on her face put a very big one on me!
We alternated adults and kids going up for rides and got a few runs out of our family pass! What fun this was!!!
Those waiting for their turn to ride got to watch all of the bungee jumpers!
Our last run was adults only on the harder luge run. Good times in the Adventure Capital of the World!
We had such a fun afternoon! It was the perfect family fun day!
We had some time to kill before dinnertime, so we decided to hit the Ice Bar. We ordered our cocktails and mocktails and got suited up in big parkas and gloves. It was a little gimicky, but I loved it! EVERYTHING inside was made of is, including our glasses. We got some fun photos, played a little ice hockey, enjoyed the icy cold slushy drinks, and got to smash our glasses into the ice bin when we were done.
I had to grab this picture really quick and then yell at her not to lick the ice sculptures! Thankfully we did not have a “A Christmas Story” episode!
After the Ice Bar, we found a nice tapas restaurant. The kids enjoyed the outdoor playground and everyone was exhausted by the end of dinner. Hallie NEVER falls asleep on me, so I knew she was spent. Fun day!!
