From Glenorchy, we drove back through Queenstown and into the historic Arrowtown, a former gold mining town. We visited Amisfield Winery here and enjoyed wine tasting and taking in the beauty of the winery, the vineyard and the surrounding views. Even William & Kate visited Amisfield earlier in the year!
The kids had fun watching videos and playing games while we enjoyed a peaceful wine tasting experience!
We had fun outdoors with the beautiful scenery, climbing on the tractor, and playing Boules!
Then we drove a little further into Arrowtown to Chard Farm Winery to see the vineyards and more great LOTR sites.
Yep, Sudip and I were the camera crazies!
Here we could see the LOTR site, The River Anduin-the river that crossed most of Middle-earth east of the Misty Mountains.
Here is the spectacular view of the Anduin and Argonath (Pillars of Kings). The Pillars were computer generated in the studio. The Kawarau River Gorge/bungy bridge shows where the Fellowship boats come down the river Anduin past the statues of the Gondorian Kings of old.
This is another location where you can bungee jump or canyon swing.
We got to enjoy a beautiful sunset on our way back to our house.
We enjoyed a delicious and fun Japanese dinner. We loved the low tables with the sunken floors for our feet and the kids had a blast climbing all around.
After we got the kids in bed, we took the opportunity to hit the town for one night. In New Zealand, passengers are allowed to drink during the car ride, so we took advantage of that and enjoyed some nice wine while Brian drove us around!
We had a great night out dancing and socializing with the locals and other tourists!
