After a quick run in the morning and some brekkie, we got the kids in kid’s club and made our way down to the Activities desk for our (Brian, Tracie, Sylvia & I) discover scuba lesson. We were all a bit nervous as only Tracie had tried it before, but we were also pretty excited! They had us watch an intro video and take a little quiz. After a short break, our instructor got us suited up and taught us how to use all of our gear before heading to the beach. We had a lesson in the shallow water on different hand signals and how to clear our mask and equalize our ears, inflate and deflate our vest, and use our regulator. We got to go down to about 4 meters (13 feet) to get a feel for it before getting the stamp of approval for our scuba excursion later. Meanwhile, Jon & Kyle were out doing a 2 tank dive!
During our break before our scuba excursion, we had take away lunch with the kids and took them down to the beach for a special treat.
Unfortunately, during our scuba lesson, Sylvia’s ears didn’t equalize properly and she had severe ear pain and was unable to join the rest of us for our 1 tank dive in the afternoon.
We hopped on the boat and were off!
We had a few pick ups along the way and saw some beautiful resorts and sights.
With our instructor *ready* to go! Ahhh!!!
They had us sit on the side with our tanks over the side of the boat and flip backwards into the water. This was a bit scary but fun too!
First look on the ocean floor
Here we go! We started our descent down the rope slowly so that we could equalize on the way down. My mask was a bit loose and kept filling with water and I couldn’t remember how to clear it so I had a momentary freak out and went back up to get assistance. From then on, I was good to go, but unfortunately my mask was still loose and I had to clear it quite often throughout the dive.
After the initial descent, it was such a magical experience! A little freaky still thinking you’re breathing under water, but SO cool! We went down to 12 meters (40 feet) and had an awesome time!
On our way back after a super fun afternoon!
We went to pick up the kids from kid’s club to find they had been transformed!
Ready for dinner!
Torch lighting
Another great day!
