“It’s morning time,” says Hallie as she blinds us by opening up the blinds and letting the sunshine in.
After breakfast, it’s off to kid’s club for the kiddos and snorkeling for the adults! This was a short boat ride away and an amazing snorkeling excursion! Brian and I actually preferred this to the Great Barrier Reef!
This was Brian just before he got into the water and took a big breath through his snorkel that happened to be missing the valve…poor guy, inhaled way to much salt water! Thankfully there was another one on the boat!
The water was so clear and the coral and fish abundant!!
A school of squid passing by
After an amazing excursion, we came back to grab the kids for some more fun on the beach! They had been eager to check out the inflatables, so that’s just what we did!
This was quite the challenge and nobody could get up by themselves. Sophia, Holden & Jon were the only ones that actually managed to get up and slide off. Kyla is here on the top screaming for someone to get her down! It was a lot higher than they realized!
Way to go Holden!
More snorkeling fun for the big girls
Meanwhile, Hallie and I along with Jon & Sophia went for a kayak ride over to the other resort.
All was peaceful and beautiful until we started our return trip against the crazy wind! What a work out-I was beat!
We got cleaned up then and ready for our family excursion to the local Fijian village.
We took a boat ride over to the village
This little guy was very welcoming, offering everybody a high 5!
We started our time there with a Kava ceremony. Kava is enjoyed on both important and social occasions, including when accepting guests or visitors into a village and is traditionally accompanied by a ceremonial atmosphere and men and women are served in order of rank. Kava is a mildly narcotic drink made from mixing the powdered root of the pepper plant with water and results in a numb feeling around the mouth, lips and tongue and a sense of relaxation. For many Fijians, kava is a link to their ancestral past and is the nation's traditional and national drink.
After the Kava ceremony, we went out to the handicraft markets the women had set up.
The man on the left offered Miss Hallie a coconut-she was excited!
Then we got to tour the village, starting with the school.
Back on the boat for one more stop at the wood carving village.
While we were there, they took a break from the festivities and celebration of Fiji day.
Now the party can start!
Back to our resort for take away dinner for the kids before heading to kid’s club and an adult only dinner.
Here we are laughing at the fact that our meals got pretty messed up. Apparently Kyle said he didn’t want any vegetables (Sylvia and him ordered the same meal and looked quite different), Brian chose fries over veggies (Jon & him ordered the same meal but you wouldn’t know it) and I never got served my soup. In the end, we all had a good meal and yummy desserts before getting the kids from kids club.
Lot of these little visitors on our patios! Wishing us a good night!
