The hustle and bustle of school starting along with all of the other activities that start back up. Alaina started school on Janurary 29 and Kyla started on February 3. It’s nice that the Kindy kids started a little later and for the first month of school, they get out 15 min. earlier. It’s a nice adjustment time for them and us! We have quite a busy year ahead of us. Alaina is currently swimming 3 times a week (mid-week lessons, Saturday morning lessons at the school and once a week with her class), will be starting recorder, choir and dance programs through the school, is in art enrichment at school, is playing cricket on Saturday mornings and has started dance (jazz & ballet) at a local dance school. Kyla is not quite as busy as she isn’t old enough to do some of the school programs, but is still swimming twice a week, playing cricket and doing dance (jazz & ballet) once a week. Hallie and I are staying busy as well with playgroup, library story time and Sisterhood at church.
Alaina’s 1st day of school:
They started off in their 2013 classrooms (they do this every year for a few reasons-so they can get a definite idea of how many kids there are for placement purposes, so the kids can find those familiar faces from last year, and start of their year with their old teacher giving them guidance and a proper send-off)
Alaina was very excited to be in class with several of her good friends from last year!
Alaina is in a shared teaching classroom. She has Mrs. Durand M-W and Mrs. Justilius-Wright Th-F.
I was quite nervous wondering how Kyla would go starting kindergarten, especially at such a young age and having only been to half of a 4 year old preschool program. She absolutely amazed me! She can definitely be clingy and shy, but I think the school really prepares the students well. Between 2 orientation days where the child gets to go into the classroom with the other students and the best start program which allows the child to meet one on one with the teacher the week before school starts, she was ready!
I will try to take this picture each year to see how much they all change while we are living here!
We are very excited and happy about Kyla’s kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Wilson.
And of course, here’s Kyla’s good buddy, Paris, who is in her class this year…and they sit next to each other in class.
They had a special “Tea & Tissues” gathering for the parents that just dropped their babies to their Kindy classes
We are looking forward to a great school year!
