After a short night’s sleep in the Gold Coast, we set off early the next morning to Brisbane to pick up the Davidsons at the airport. It was so exciting to see them and the kids were thrilled to have friends to play with! After loading everything in the 2 vehicles, we grabbed a quick bite at McDonalds. (Welcome to Australia! )
We then headed to Brisbane’s Botanic Gardens. Kyla is making sure we know where we’re going.
Unfortunately, these spiders have become not that big of a deal as they are everywhere!
These water dragons were all over the place, including our pathway!
The ibis-visitors think they’re pretty cool, until you get to know them…they love to come after your food and are just gross.
Japanese Gardens
Teaching them young!
Hallie started out happy…
Cool xylophone bench on our way out
From the Botanic Gardens, we made our way over to The Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary where we ate lunch and saw a lot of great Australian animals, including Cockatoos, koalas, Tasmanian devils, dingoes, Wallabies, Kangaroos, and Lorikeets.
Someone needs some dental work done!
We all had fun playing around with and feeding and petting the wallabies and kangaroos.
Cute Little Joey
Hallie was so funny to watch as she would run from one kangaroo to the next trying to feed and pet them. She’d get in front of their face and just stare at and talk to them. I’m surprised she didn’t try to ride one!
The one on the left kept growling at the mama on the right. Ii was my first time hearing them make noise.

Little Diva, Kyla
Lorikeet feeding time!
After this, we made our way back to our accommodation in the Gold Coast and just had pizza take out for dinner before calling it a night!
