Melbourne Vacation-Day 10

We packed up for our last day of vacation and headed to Pebbly Beach in Murramarang National Park.  We had heard you could go here anytime and find kangaroos on the beach and we were not disappointed!  So many kangaroos I couldn’t even count them all! You definitely had to watch your step! Smile

From here, we made our way to Berry.  We hadn’t planned to stop here, but the town looked so quaint with all the shops and restaurants, we decided to stop here for lunch.

And dessert!! YUM!!! I understand the huge wait for donuts as well as the “famous” on the sign…pretty sure we’ll make another weekend trip down here while in Australia!  Best donuts I’ve ever had!

Our final vacation stop before making it back home was to the Kiama Blowhole.
The Kiama Headland is composed of volcanic rock. A volcanic extrusion cuts through that.  Over millions of years, this softer rock eroded faster than the volcanic rock creating a tunnel under the headland. Eventually part if it collapsed creating the Kiama Blowhole. As each wave surges through the tunnel, air is compressed in the rear chamber building tremendous pressure. As waves subside, pressure in the chamber releases forcing the trapped water up the blowhole with a loud 'whoomp.'

Kiama Lighthouse was completed in 1887. The light improved maritime safety along the rocky coastline.
