Melbourne Vacation-Day 2

We started off Day 2 with Brian and I getting a “date” run on some nearby trails followed by a nice breakfast at the house.  We loaded up and hit the road to Melbourne.
I realized early this morning that my eye was quite red and painful.  I knew I needed to find a doctor to get me sorted but with it being Easter weekend, my options would be limited.  After calling around a bit, we found an open clinic.  Upon arrival, I realized why it was open and was not thrilled to be dropped off in this shady town, in this clinic with some pretty creepy people.  I also thought it was bizarre that they had a circumcision clinic here as well.  While I was left in this dismal place, the rest of my crew headed to a nearby park for a picnic lunch.  After what seemed like forever, I was finally done, with prescriptions filled, ready to join my family in a much nicer location!

We then headed into the city of Melbourne and quickly understood why it’s called Australia's cultural capital, as an international centre for performing and visual arts.

Melbourne operates the world's largest tram network, and they have free trams in the city circle.

We found a parking spot and walked around a bit of the city. Here is the beautiful St. Paul’s Cathedral.

The Federation Bells-a lasting symbol of the 2001 Centenary of Federation celebrations. The 39 harmonic bells, with various shapes, produce unique sounds based on musical chords. More than 100 compositions can be heard in an evolving weekly schedule. Anyone can write music for the Bells.  We were lucky enough to get to hear them-beautiful!!

We then headed a little bit south to our apartment in St. Kilda. This place was in a great location (by the water and Luna Park)and it was a very nice apartment, though a bit small for the 6 of us with only 1 actual bedroom, an air mattress and a futon.  Even though it was small, it ended up being all of our favorite places that we stayed.  Good thing too, as we were here for a total of 5 nights.
