Happy Easter! This was definitely a different Easter for us, but we were so thankful to have friends to share it with! We woke up, enjoyed some breakfast on our wrap around balcony, and got packed. We took a few photos before leaving the Gold Coast and making our way south.
We made our way about an hour south to Byron Bay Lighthouse - the eastern-most point on the Australian mainland. We had lunch, applied some sunblock for yet another gorgeous, sunny day and walked around the lighthouse admiring the amazing views!
I decided to be a little daring and hop the fence to climb out to this rocky area (I saw someone else do it, so I figured it was safe enough, right?). Here’s the close up shot, followed by the shot Jon took from further away to show the magnitude of this cliff.
We got to see a pod of dolphins playing in the waves down below.
From Byron Bay, we made our way to Port Macquarie. (another 5+ hours south) As we neared dinner time, we started to get worried that being Easter, there wouldn’t be much open. As we called around, we realized we were right. Luckily, when we stopped for gas, there was a truck stop restaurant next door that was open. It was such a great meal and the service was unbelievably good. Our food was out in less than 10 min. of ordering! We enjoyed our truck stop Easter dinner before continuing on to our hotel in Port Macquarie.
That truck stop was quite a find! I especially love the days couple, family, and group shots. What great photos!
