The first day of the school in 2015 was a rainy morning. I grabbed this one picture of the girls before heading to their new classes (Year 1 & Year 3).
Then, after school when it was the rain had stopped, I got the rest of my first day of school pictures! These girls are growing up WAY too fast!
Kyla hanging up her school bag and lining up after the bell has rung.
Kyla with her 2 teachers, Mrs. Milligan (Mon-Th) and Mrs. Kippen (Fri)
Alaina with her teacher, Ms. Hall
Along with school starting back up, so do all the extra curricular activities. Hallie & Alaina are still doing dance but Kyla has just started gymnastics and is LOVING it! She wanted to pose for me here after her first lesson.
On the 2nd day of school, Alaina got to participate in her first swimming carnival. You have to turn 8 within the school year to be eligible. Not many Year 3 kids signed up to participate, so we were super proud of Alaina for being willing to give it a go. It was a BIG, 50m. pool. Alaina signed up to swim 50m. freestyle, 50m. breaststroke and 50m. backstroke. Here she is with some of her friends before the carnival began.
Here she is marshaling for the 50m. freestyle. It made me so nervous to watch her, especially bringing back memories of my own nerves before a race.
Smiling at a friend before getting ready to dive in!
Alaina did great. She didn’t quite make it all the way to the other end, but I know she could have (& has before). This was her first time doing anything like this and she’s never swam in a pool this large, so we were incredibly proud.
Next up was the 50m. breaststroke. I was really nervous now as she was a little upset after the freestyle and not being able to make it to the end and know that freestyle was her stronger stroke. BUT, she did it! She was awesome and we couldn’t have been prouder, especially since there was only 1 heat of girls from her grade even participating in this!
Hallie was there at the end cheering on her big sister-so sweet!
And her friend, Hannah was there to celebrate with her too!
Last one for the day, the 50m. backstroke Taking her mark and giggling with her friend.
Another successful race. She was amazing!
