We started our morning off with a nice breakfast with a beautiful view of the water.
Our first stop was not far from our house. Here the big girls are headed toward Tessellated Pavement
Tessellated Pavement is an inter-tidal rock platform in which the tide comes in, the saltwater penetrates the cracks and surfaces of the rock, and when the tide goes back out, salt crystals form on the rock. Over time, the salt crystals grow and push the grains in the rock apart, forming these cracks in the rock platform. It was beautiful and so neat to see God’s handiwork!
The girls were enjoying touching the water, but got a bit wet as some bigger waves came in!
A beautiful view of where we just were from further up the road
Our next stop was in Sorrell where we went fruit picking. It was the most delicious fruit I’ve ever picked…we got mostly cherries-YUM, and then several other different berries (loganberries, tayberries, silvanberries, etc.) and a few strawberries.
Hallie searching for some strawberries
Our next stop was to the beautiful and historical village of Richmond. Here we are at Australia's oldest known, large stone arch bridge which was built by convict labour and completed in 1825.
The kids had fun playing under the big willow tree
Can you spy Brian & Hallie?
We were happy to make it to the Cadbury Factory before it closed. We got to sample some chocolate and learn how it is made.
On our way to the next spot, Kyla had my phone and took a picture from her perspective of the car ride. Squeezing into this car had its challenges with the kids in such close proximity for those longer car rides!
I’m realizing just how much we did on this day! Since it was such a hot day in Tasmania (not typical-91°F/33°C), and it was clear, sunny day, we thought it was the best time to drive to the summit of Mount Wellington. It was an absolutely spectacular view! The girls had a blast climbing rocks and did such a great job getting up to this point for the best 360° lookout.
The best view was looking out over Hobart and the river with the Tasman Peninsula and National Park off in the distance.

We then checked into our hotel (the only place we stayed more than 1 night), got changed and headed out for dinner on the water.
This is pretty much how the girls “walk” places…more of a dance/skip/jump than a walk.
This picture was taken JUST before we went to sit at our table and Hallie, while sitting right next to me, slipped off her seat, turned and smacked her mouth on the bench. I picked her up and her mouth was gushing blood and I notice one of her bottom teeth was sticking straight out the front. I freaked out and called for Brian who was ordering food. We tried calling an emergency dentist but got no response, so since she (and I) had calmed down, we had a quick bite (she only cried for like 30 seconds and was over it and eating didn’t seem to bother her) and went back to the hotel. The tooth slowly moved back into place and started to harden back up…absolutely amazing to me considering how I saw it! Thankfully we got into the dentist the next morning and she had some x-rays done. They said that they thought everything would be fine and they didn’t think her tooth was dead, just her gum badly bruised. And everything is truly fine with it now! Crazy! Oh, and this was all on top of her teething on this vacation (just like our last one!). We need to remember to pack more Panadol/Tylenol (and bandaids!)
