We enjoyed a relaxing morning in the hotel, watching Doc McStuffins in another language. It was so frustrating for the girls!
Another amazing breakfast! And what you see on the right is what this hotel gave us upon arrival and any other timer time we came back from being out. All the hotels we stayed at offered us welcome drinks and sometimes other special treats-sometimes all we wanted to do was get into our room and get settled, but it was definitely customary to sit and relax first.
After breakfast, we had a tour booked for 3 tombs and a pagoda. Our driver picked us up and what started as a quiet car ride with sleepy children, later turned into a loud, singing, screaming zoo!
Our first stop was to a local village where the girls got to make their own incense and see how conical hats were made.
Our driver treated the girls to some moon pies
Then we headed to our first tomb: Tu Duc Tomb-constructed from 1864-1867 and served as a 2nd Imperial City where the Emperor, who reigned at that time came for relief from national and household concerns. The tomb complex is divided into 2 main areas: The Ritual and the Burial. Tu Duc had the longest reign of all emperors of the Nguyen dynasty.
Luu Khiem Lake and Tinh Khiem Island
The girls found their stage and choreographed a little dance for us-so cute!
While the ritual area contains many aspects of the reigning monarch's daily existence, the burial area represents the after life.
Buu Thanh, known as he precious wall surrounds the royal crypt where the emperor's relics are kept.
